What Did I Become?

Audriene Courtney slowly opened the silver car door, staring at the apartment in wonder. When she stayed somewhere, it was usually in a hotel somewhere- not in any apartment or condo.

"You have a nice place here," the wingless fairy said in short of awe. "Do you live on the top or bottom apartment, Tabitha?"

Why was she amazed at the small living place? Plenty of people lived here, after all!

Tabitha smiled an pointed to the highest apartment.''I like heights. some times i fly to my room.'' The fairy giggled but walked in to the apartment, but first their where stairs to walk up. She took out her keys and opened the door, the house was simple, a white couch was at the end, huge glass sliding doors where there too. Small decorations lit up her house, all red, orange and yellow of course. She hopped the house didnt look to boring, and a few paintings and a she drew where hanging, even a portrait of her self was in the kitchen. She walked in, but let Audriene in first. ''I hope you are comfortable, and ill show your your room. This way''. She started to walk the hall way was small but roomy. The room her friend was going to stay was mostly white, a flower vase was in there with pink roses. Not much, just enough to have guests over.

Audriene smiled. The house was really pretty and filled up with the warm color scheme. She smelled the air, getting a whiff of- what was that? That smelled good! It must be Febreeze, she thought to herself. “This is quite a pretty place. What scent is this, anyway,” she asked politely, hoping the question sounded more like a compliment than “eww that smell is so gross”.

The fairy followed the other fairy into her room. It had clean white walls with a small vase. “Oooh… I love roses,” she murmured to herself quietly. The bed looked uber-comfy. “Wow… This is nice. I wonder… Can I redo this room? Like, hang some posters and stuff? Of course, I’ll have to buy them, but-” and the fairy continued to blabber on about design.

Tabitha smiled, she was glad her frie- Crush liked her room, she was glad. But the fairy just had to laughed with all the idea and of course she didnt mind, ''Go ahead, and if you need anything just tell me. I get money from my drawings and paintings''. Tabitha wondered if Audriene was happy, or hungry really,''Do you need anything, her hand touching her friends shoulder, Tabitha could feel the warmth, her hand burned.. and in a very good way.

She smiled. Now that she thought about it, her stomach was growling! She should really get some food in it. But, she didn’t want to eat all of Tabitha’s food, either. But then again it would be polite to agree to food, and not refuse it. What should she choose? Oh, what the heck, she thought. I’m hungry anyway. Why not? Audriene nodded her head, silver eyes blinking and long lashes clumped together naturally- no make-up needed. Her silver, platinum blonde hair shook as she nodded her head, pale skin turning a bit pink in embarrassment.

“Actually, food sounds good,” she laughed. “The last time I ate it was, hmm, last night around nine twenty p.m.” The fairy giggled. “So I’m sort of hungry.” She smiled, showing off her 100 watt smile of perfectly white teeth. The color made the overbite look a tad bit better. And she had even heard that the small gap in her two front teeth wasn’t that not attractive! Once again, Audriene felt really happy to belong somewhere- even with a friend that could die by hunters any day or kick her out if she stopped believing she was a fairy!

Tabitha smiled, he dirty blonde wavy hair bounce in the piggy tail it was in. The girls teeth glistened in the sun light, she had took up so much time this morning to put some blush, eye liner and lip gloss all to be washed away. Her skin now a creamy pink, her cheeks where a rosy pink, all natural of course. Her legs also bounced as she clapped her hands when her friend accepted the food, the muscles there ripped. She was so simple yet beautiful today, her legs long, lean in ripped jean short sorts. Her figure showing in a pretty flowery red shirt. ''I am glad Audriene, right before i left i made some salad, potatoes and chicken, for two days, so that means enough for the both of yous. I hope you like'', she called her friend, her wings sparkling in the apartment light, they where just the perfect shape of a butterfly, mixes of oranges, red, and yellow. Tabitha was a pretty girl.

As Tabitha was jumping up and down in happiness, the other girl noticed how pretty she actually was. The other fairy had pretty dirty blonde hair, tied up in a ponytail. With all of the make-up washed off, she looked so glowingly natural! Audriene smiled as she said, “Actually, chicken and potatoes are really good!”

She walked into the kitchen, immediately sitting in the first chair she saw to get out of the way of Tabitha. Why intrude in how her kitchen was run, right? Suddenly, Audriene laughed. “You know,” she smiled jokingly. “I bet your plates match your color scheme, huh?”

Tabitha smiled and ran, well flew to the kitchen she had a huge smile on her face, her eyes where like melted chocolate, with sprinkles of gold of course. She grabbed the things from the fridge and started to take things out so they can be heated up. She stuffed the chicken and potatoes in the oven and started to mix the salad so they could eat while they wait.''I am glad you like it hun''. She served her a plate, but Tabitha had no idea how much salad she wanted. But juice they had a lot of, ''Coke, orange juice, iced tea, or strawberry and banana juice?'',she waved her hands wondering what her friend wanted.

As the food was cooking and Audriene asked for a coke, she had a great idea. For some strange reason, Tabitha’s hair was calling out to her. It was so pretty… why did she keep it up in a ponytail? “Here,” Audriene said. “Lemme see your hair.” The younger wingless fairy moved her chair behind where Tabitha was. She gently pulled her hair out of its scrunchi and combed her long fingers with the glowing nails down her scalp, raking them through the hair of her friend. “I love your hair,” she cooed. “It’s such a great color… I wish I had your hair. I should totally dye it,” she giggled mischievously. After a moment of gentle brushing, Audriene quickly wrapped it around her hand until it was curled up; and she pushed it up to the top of her head, tying it with the scrunchi and tearing her clip out of her own hair. “One final touch,” she hummed. “And I’ll be done.” The black and purple wing clip in her hair was now transferred into Tabitha’s richly colored hair. It was so pretty!

Tabitha turned, she smiled wondering what her crush was going to do, she let her take down her pony tail, which truthfully Tabitha liked, but she shrugged and let Audriene go on. She could feel her fingers going gently threw her hair, Tabitha felt a chill threw her spine , it felt so good, but it was so bad Audriene was her friend, not GIRLfriend. But Tabitha could not resist, she let her cursh play with her hair, she shivered though. But at the end Tabitha got up straight and looked at Audrine, ''Thank you'', But she could not take it, the fairy umped on Audriene and kissed her lightly on the lips. She was surprised, jumping back, ''I am so sorry, i am really really sorry'', she did not know what to do.

As Audriene finished with Tabitha’s hair, she watched her friend turn around and plant a small kiss on her lips. “Oh my gosh-” Audriene whispered. She slowly walked backwards from the room, almost tripping on a chair, then quickly turned and raced out the door. The girl sat on the ground outside of the apartment, listening to other people in the complex. A few kids were sitting on the stone steps smoking something that smelled horrible. That scent mixed with the sweet smell of Tabitha’s lips almost made her retch, but then a sudden feeling rushed over her. Why had she fled? First, Tabitha had actually believed her that she was a fairy. Second, she had offered to let her stay in her own home when she hardly knew her.

It wasn’t out of pity when Audriene turned around and went right back inside that door, straight to the living room, and directly into the kitchen to grab Tabitha’s hand. It was the same reason she had at first decided to play with her new friends hair. She liked this girl- a small crush that had been buried deep in her mind. But how in the world could she like another girl? She wasn’t gay, she was perfectly straight! Evidently, I’m not anymore, she thought happily as she pulled Tabitha close for another small peck with her perfectly purple lips.

Tabitha saw her friend run out the door, she could not believe what she had done, one of the few people she had ever truly liked, she had just made the girl RUN! Tabitha felt really really bad, she stared to cry, gently and quietly, she stood there lost, sad, maybe like she just had took the poor girls life. But she heard foot steps and it was Audriene, she was confused, ''I am so sor-'' But Audriene had grabbed her, kissing Tabitha, she was so confused,the fairy, could not hold it in though, she rapped her arms around her crush. And kissed her hard, but just for a moment, ''Audriene, i thought you where straight, i am so sorry, what has happened.. I am so confused, i feel so bad''. Tabitha was crying and happy all at once, she was soo confused, but the food would burn soon, she would have to run to it when the oven beeped.

As she felt Tabitha wrap her arms around her and kiss her once more, Audriene felt so confused. Listening to her words, the girl tried to speak but couldn’t. Her throat was dry and parched and felt horrible! “I-I” she said in a sweetly hoarse voice. “I am straight. I don’t know why- Can we just sit down and talk about this?” she asked as the food beeped. Knowing Tabitha was going to turn around to get it, she rushed over to the oven saying, “It’s probably way too hot right now. Let it cool,” as she blocked the oven with her body. “Let’s just head over and,” she grabbed her friend (hopefully still) by the hand and pulled her over to the couch to talk, “…talk. Okay? Please? This is all so confusing and I don’t know what happened, but we definitely need to get something right, right Tabitha? Please,” she pleaded, heart pounding with unsurity.

Tabitha was very lost her self, she sighed and nodded not even caring for the food anymore, '' But Audriene! it makes no sense if you where straight you should have slapped me or puked or something!''. She screeched, well whispered in a very lost, sad,crying voice. Tabitha though she had found a friend at least, and maybe a companion, this was horrible. She wiped away tears but new ones kept coming in ''Yes lets sit. What do you want to talk, you cant even explain it!. I am so lost Audriene''. She fixed her shirt and sat,her wings limp, non moving, just dead. Tabitha just wished a love would come in her life, maybe a friend but it was so hard, she could just fall in love with either party!

It- it’s just so hard to explain to her, Audriene thought to herself. “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but that’s what I want to talk about. First of all… I’m sort of lost, too. I don’t know why I did it but…” For some reason, she felt like hurting her would make the next moment happier. “I really can’t explain why I did what I did- kissing you, I mean. First I ran, then I came back. Okay, you’re probably thinking how I should have made up my mind… Here’s the thing, Tabby. Can I call you that? Well… I was straight- until just now. When I was playing with your hair, another feeling just swept all over me, Tabitha! I can’t explain it at all, and I’m so sorry… But…” She took a very deep breath, ready for any comment that her friend would say to her, even if they were hurtful. “But I think I love you, Tabby. In all this confusion, I feel a deep happiness to be, you know, more than friends with you. So I had to be frankly honest!” After a moment, a small, miniature laugh bubbled through her throat. “Actually, I almost did throw up, but I didn’t. Plus, that could be because of those annoying brats outside your apartment…”
